India Post GDS Recruitment January 2026 – Apply Online for BPM, ABPM & Dak Sevak Posts

The Department of Posts, Government of India, under the Ministry of Communications, has released the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-I, January-2026 notification.

Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for engagement to the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak in various Postal Circles across India. Selection will be done purely on merit based on Class 10 marks, and no written examination or interview will be conducted.

Post Details & Job Profile

 

Branch Postmaster (BPM)

• Overall in-charge of Branch Post Office

• Handles postal services & India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) work

• Responsible for marketing of postal products

• Must arrange accommodation for running the Branch Post Office

• Must reside in the post village

Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)

• Assists BPM in postal & IPPB operations

• Mail delivery, counter services, marketing

• May perform BPM duties when required

• Must reside within delivery jurisdiction

Dak Sevak

• Mail delivery and collection

• Counter services & IPPB transactions

• Sorting and handling of mail bags

• Assistance in Sub-Post Offices / Head Post Offices

 

 

 

Pay Scale (TRCA)

➡️ Annual increment of 3%

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have:

• Secondary School Examination (10th Class) pass from a recognized board

• Passing marks in Mathematics and English

• Must have studied the local language of the Postal Circle up to 10th Class

Other Mandatory Requirements

Candidates must possess:

• Basic computer knowledge

• Ability to ride a bicycle / two-wheeler

• Adequate means of livelihood other than GDS income
